The Wreck of the Costa Concordia

cruise ship italy wreck

Four other crew members and an executive from the ship's owner Costa Crociere, the biggest cruise operator in Europe and part of the US giant Carnival, have already plea-bargained and been convicted on lesser charges. "When I was getting into the lifeboat amid all the chaos I thought this might be my last day alive," he said as he gazed out at the wreck from the port. A Dutch tug boat and a Vanuatu-flagged one will then tow the 290-metre (951-foot) vessel away around 1000 GMT, while 12 other boats will sail in a convoy alongside, carrying divers, engineers, a medical team and environmental experts. The length of three football fields, the crippled vessel will first be manoeuvred into position by British and Spanish tug boats in a complex operation beginning at 0630 GMT (2.30pm Singapore time).

Regulatory and industry response

Giglio Island's nature-loving tourists have been replaced by day-trippers who want a look at the massive wreck of the Costa Concordia. A huge hunk of granite weighing some 80 tons is embedded in the hull of the marooned ship. The boat would stay off the coast of the island for another ten years until being removed in 2014.

"They're an eyesore," La Spezia-based art curator Tania Calenda told Fortune, adding that "everyone's tired of having them there." To the right, facing west, the rocky peninsula is accented at its tip by the sharp-cornered, Gothic Church of St. Peter. To the left, facing east, an array of docks and a peach-colored buildings are dwarfed by the green rolling hills rising up behind them.

Costa Concordia disaster

“It was a night that, in addition to being a tragedy, had a beautiful side because the response of the people was a spontaneous gesture that was appreciated around the world,” Ortelli said. The four ministers have also called for ideas to create a new external terminal for ships and "solve the problem of the transit of large ships in Venice in a structural and definitive manner". Cruise ships will no longer be allowed to sail near the centre of Venice, Italy's government has announced. The struggle reflects the difficult reality of an industry battered by the pandemic.

Four shipwrecks in five days: Why migrants tragedy keep happening in the Med

The body of Indian waiter Russel Rebello is still missing and there will be a search for his remains when the ship is dismantled. Objects floating free such as suitcases, clothes and furniture will be caught in a huge net while infrared sensors will be used to detect possible oil leaks at night. South African salvage master Nick Sloane - who has described removing the ship as the "biggest challenge" of a career that has taken him to six continents and two warzones - said he was ready to "wave goodbye to Giglio". The ship - roughly twice the size of the Titanic - will be dragged up the Corsica channel by two tug boats at a speed of just two knots (3.7 kilometres, 2.3 miles) per hour, and is expected to reach Genoa in four days, weather permitting.

Passengers and personnel

On the night of Friday, January 13, the luxury cruise ship Costa Concordia, with more than 3,200 passengers and 1,000 crew members on board, struck a reef, keeled over, and partially sank off Isola del Giglio, Italy. Six people are now confirmed dead, including two French passengers and one Peruvian crew member, apparently after jumping into the chilly Mediterranean waters after the wreck. Fourteen more people still remain missing, as search and rescue teams continue their efforts to find survivors. The incident occurred only hours into the cruise, and passengers had not yet undergone any lifeboat drills -- that plus the severe list of the ship made evacuation chaotic and frightening.

Despite receiving its own share of criticism, Costa Cruises and its parent company, Carnival Corporation, did not face criminal charges. At night, the cruise ship operators flip on the lights, illuminating the vessels like Christmas trees in the middle of the Gulf of Poets. During the day, a captain turns on the massive engines and the enormous ship would make a deliberately slow-go circle in the waters. The occasional boater would deliver a frustrated honk at the colossus, and those on shore would shake their head at the hardly subtle routine maneuver. Italy on Thursday marks the 10th anniversary of the Costa Concordia cruise ship wreck off the Tuscan island of Giglio. Here are some key dates in the saga, including the trial of the captain and the remarkable engineering feat to right the liner from its side so it could be towed away for scrap.

During this time, work also began to remove the vessel in what was the largest maritime salvage operation in history. It was not until September 2013 that the 114,000-ton Concordia was finally righted. The 19-hour process involved specially built underwater platforms, cranes, and some 500 people.

But the report noted that some passengers testified that they didn’t hear the alarm to proceed to the lifeboats. Evacuation was made even more chaotic by the ship listing so far to starboard, making walking inside very difficult and lowering the lifeboats on one side, near to impossible. Making things worse, the crew had dropped the anchor incorrectly, causing the ship to flop over even more dramatically. The total cost of the disaster, including victims' compensation, refloating, towing and scrapping costs, is estimated at $2 billion, more than three times the ship's $612 million construction cost.

People were left to clamber down a rope ladder over a distance equivalent to 11 stories. The ship's captain, Francesco Schettino, had been performing a sail-past salute of Giglio when he steered the ship too close to the island and hit the jagged reef, opening a 230-foot gash in the side of the cruise liner. “I imagine it like a nail stuck to the wall that marks that date, as a before and after,” he said, recounting how he joined the rescue effort that night, helping pull ashore the dazed, injured and freezing passengers from lifeboats. Following the conclusion of the righting operation, the ship was kept on the platform while further inspections were made and the starboard sponsons attached.

He then delayed an evacuation order until it was too late, with lifeboats unable to lower because the ship was listing too heavily. Schettino argued that he fell into a lifeboat because of how the ship was listing to one side, but this argument proved unconvincing. In 2015, a court found Schettino guilty of manslaughter, causing a shipwreck, abandoning ship before passengers and crew were evacuated and lying to authorities about the disaster. In addition to Schettino, Ferrarini and Rusli Bin, the other people who received convictions for their role in the disaster were Cabin Service Director Manrico Giampedroni, First Officer Ciro Ambrosio and Third Officer Silvia Coronica. The hospitality of the tight-knit community of islanders kicked in, at first to give basic assistance to the 4,229 passengers and crew members who had to be evacuated from a listing vessel as high as a skyscraper. In no time, Giglio residents hosted thousands of journalists, law enforcement officers and rescue experts who descended on the port.

Add it all up, and investors have pounded cruise ship stocks over the past two years. The rusting liner, which has been floated from its watery grave in the biggest salvage operation of a passenger ship ever performed, will be towed away to the port of Genoa in northwest Italy to be dismantled and scrapped. Schettino faces multiple manslaughter charges as well as charges of causing the accident and abandoning ship. He was released this week from house arrest, and in his first TV interview, he blamed his junior officers.

It's in Europe's biggest marine sanctuary, with crystal-clear waters rich in flora and fauna. Now, the marooned hulk dominates the Giglio skyline and has become a sinister attraction of what some call disaster tourism — drawing hundreds of gawking tourists who snap away at the photo opportunity. "To wake up every morning and to see this thing, from my point of view, it is terrible," says Matteo Bellomo, who has had a second home on Giglio for 50 years.

In July 2014 the Concordia—outfitted with a number of steel containers serving as flotation devices—was towed to Genoa, Italy, where it was dismantled for scrap. Evidence introduced in Schettino’s trial suggests that the safety of his passengers and crew wasn’t his number one priority as he assessed the damage to the Concordia. Italy had already banned cruise ships from docking in St Mark's Square but has now diverted all to the city's industrial port in Marghera. The doomed ship struck rocks just off the Mediterranean island on the night of January 13 with 4,229 people from 70 countries on board, just as many passengers were sitting down for supper on the first night of their cruise. Surviving passengers who have returned to Tuscany's Giglio island will gather with locals and holidaymakers to bid a final farewell to the once-magnificent cruise ship. The Costa Concordia was owned by Costa Crociere, a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation & PLC.

Sailing the world with many of the same passengers offers an unprecendented bonding experience with like-minded travelers. The guests and crew become very much like a family on a world cruise, which can be a real joy to watch unfold — especially if you follow cruise etiquette and are considerate of others during the voyage. And the itinerary of the Ultimate World Cruise℠ 2023 is so extensive it's almost impossible to imagine. Certainly, if you love cruising and want to see much of the world as possible in one fell swoop, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to check many travel icons off your bucket list.

1 year cruise around the world cost

Looking at Royal Caribbean's Ultimate World Cruise℠ itinerary, you might be surprised by the sheer volume of bucket-list sites, even if you consider yourself a seasoned traveler. The great explorers of history spent this long — the full cruise lasts 274 days — on a single sailing across the sea, never mind going to all corners of the globe. Beginning in Fort Lauderdale and concluding in Barcelona, the sailing spans 123 nights with visits to 31 countries. The cruise kicks off with a welcome celebration, and guests can enjoy themed onboard and shoreside events and gala dinners throughout the sailing.

Queen Victoria departs Southampton, England, on January 11, 2024, for a 107-night sailing with calls at Bermuda, Florida, and the Caribbean before transiting the Panama Canal and visiting Guatemala, Mexico, the U.S. West Coast, Hawaii, Samoa, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, South Africa, Namibia, the Canary Islands, and Portugal, returning to Southampton in late April. For any cruises listed, Cruise Critic does not guarantee any specific rates or prices.

When you think about a traditional cruise, you would typically think of a week-long voyage to a specific region like the Caribbean, Alaska, or Mediterranean. Maybe a short weekend getaway to a place like the Bahamas, or perhaps a 10+ day adventure through the Panama Canal or to Hawaii. Not only will you encounter some of the world’s most revered sites and cities from Dubai to Sydney, you’ll have the opportunity to step ashore in lesser frequented ports, maiden calls and first time ever calls for Princess. Encounter some of the world’s most revered sites and cities from Kuala Lumpur and Sri Lanka to Bali, and Singapore.

This makes the $18,449 world-cruise fare suddenly more affordable, right? As any seasoned cruise-goer knows, it’s important to analyze various packages and itineraries offered by cruise lines. It’s too easy to get sucked in by a $499 offer for a 7-night sail in the Caribbean, only to learn the cabin is like a closet, you only get off once, and the ship is 15 years old. Even with a week-long cruise, it’s virtually impossible to not spend additional money on board if you want to live a little. We’re not talking about buying gemstones in the jewelry store—this is more about evening cocktails or fitness classes. Don’t fall victim to world-cruise itineraries that nickel and dime you at exponentially higher rates than these shorter cruises.

If you’re loyal to a specific line, it’s worth keeping an eye out if you’re interested in their longest sailings. Extend your cruise vacation, and simplify your travel plans with a hotel stay at the beginning or end of your cruise. With a Cruise Plus Hotel Package, a Princess representative meets you at the airport and pier, transporting you to and from your hotel. The package includes the cost of your hotel stay, transportation, luggage handling and the services of the representative. Sail aboard the Coral Princess for our longest-ever Australia-based World Cruise! This six-continent and 110-day world adventure visits popular destinations including Scandinavia & Baltic, Iceland, South America and transits the historic Panama Canal.

There's also the aft open air SeaView Pool and Bar, where smoking is permitted. Overall, the flow here is good but can be a little challenging when crossing from one side to the other with access blocked on the right side of Deck 11 for crew. Like most new ships, Rotterdam is laid out with public areas concentrated at the top and bottom of the ship, with decks of accommodations sandwiched between. Every world cruise features a range of destinations, from bustling capitals to seldom-visited jewels. While going to your next destination, you can learn new brush strokes with artists in residence or attend live cooking demonstrations. Cruisers booked in these accommodations have access to a variety of complimentary services, including those of a private concierge. Other amenities include an in-cabin stereo system and entry to the Neptune Lounge. Pinnacle Suites, found on Holland America's newer Pinnacle-class ships, are the largest and most upscale rooms in the fleet.

Why Cruise Our Mid-Sized Ships

The line also offers four- and five-night voyages out of Port Everglades to the Bahamas and Key West, Florida. However, Holland America is best known for longer sailings in the Caribbean. These include lots of seven-night itineraries to the Eastern Caribbean, Western Caribbean and Southern Caribbean, but also a large number of even longer, 10- to 21-nights Caribbean voyages. MS Zuiderdam offers 7-day departures showcasing the Atlantic Coast's seafood, maritime history, charming towns, and natural beauty.

HAL-Holland America unveils 2025-2026 Mexico and Pacific Coast seasons

In 2022, HAL became the first cruise shipping company awarded with RFM (Responsible Fisheries Management) certification (for wild-capture fisheries). HAL's credential is for serving on all its Alaska-deployed boats (6x in 2022) Alaskan wild seafood that is certified, traceable and fresh-caught via sustainable fishing methods. RFM is aligned with the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization's CCRF (Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries/1995-issued). Also in 2022, HAL partnered with ASMI (Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute/state's official seafood marketing arm) thus committing to serve onboard only sustainably sourced seafood. In recent years, HAL has earned a well-deserved reputation for offering some of the best and most varied food at sea.

When the ship is based in Fort Lauderdale, expect the majority of passengers to be North American. For 2023, the line plans one such journey — a 74-day cruise on the 1,432-passenger Volendam that starts on Jan. 3, 2023. In Northern Europe, Holland America ships mostly sail out of Amsterdam and Rotterdam in the Netherlands (a nod to the company's Dutch heritage) and Copenhagen, Denmark. The itineraries that Holland America offers in Europe are wide-ranging, with a diverse set of routings in both the Mediterranean as well as across Northern Europe.

The line's most popular and frequented destinations are the Caribbean and Europe, with other locales in proximity to North America — such as Canada/New England and the Mexican Riviera — proving to be the second-most popular with Holland America travelers. They run about 1,290 square feet, including the balcony, and they're divided into separate rooms — a living room, dining room (complete with microwave and pantry) and bedroom with a king-size bed. All suite passengers have access to additional amenities, including fresh flowers, a pillow menu, a stocked minibar and binoculars for use during each sailing. Fresh fish is not available in all ports, though, Yardley-Salisbury said, and the line also still serves seafood that has been frozen (outside of Alaska). The cruise line previously announced in 2022 that it was certified by Responsible Fisheries Management by serving only fresh, sustainable Alaska seafood on its ships sailing there before scaling up its efforts. The 48-hour window applies on most voyages, but on repositioning sailings or crossings, fresh fish may be served over a longer window.

Caribbean Cruises, Every Year From October to April

Zuiderdam's 124-day "Grand World Voyage 2025" departs on January 4th (2025) and visits 46 ports (32 countries/6 continents). The east-to-west route features a Panama Canal transit, Transpacific crossing (via Easter Island) to Australia, then up (via the Great Barrier Reef) to Asia (Indonesia, Sri Lanka), then southwards to South Africa, up to Seychelles and along Africa's east coast. Follows a Suez Canal transit to Europe/Mediterranean and a Transatlantic crossing back to the USA. In January 2024, HAL launched its "fresh fish" program announced by Michael Stendebach (HAL's VP of Food & Beverage).. Fresh fish is served on the ship in less than 48 hours and at no extra charge in the MDRs/main dining rooms. In December 2022, HAL became PPA's exclusive cruise line (Professional Pickleball Association).

Like Pinnacle Class ships, those in this class are home to Pan-Asian restaurant Tamarind, in addition to the free options and for-fee Italian restaurant and steakhouse found on the line's smaller vessels. However, the largest ones still accommodate fewer than half of the number of passengers carried by the world's largest ships — a nod to the fact that many of the line's most loyal customers prefer a more intimate experience. A fascinating destination in her own right, Westerdam has won multiple Best Cruise Ship awards and features superb bar, entertainment and dining venues.

Some of Holland America's most popular itineraries are in Europe, where the line has traditionally been a significant player. In a typical year, Holland America will deploy around half of its vessels to the region from spring until fall, making Europe one of its biggest focuses for more than half the year. Whether you're looking for a quick getaway or an epic voyage, you can't go wrong with these five top Holland America cruise destinations. HAL scheduled cruises to Cuba leaving roundtrip from Port Everglades/Fort Lauderdale (Florida USA) on MS Veendam.

HAL's 2025 Canada and New England Season offers longer voyages, maiden ports, and a 25-day "Legendary Voyage" to Greenland and Iceland. MS Zuiderdam and MS Volendam provide a range of cruises exploring Canada, New England, Greenland, and Iceland from May to October. The season runs from April thru October (2024) and two ships (Volendam and Zuiderdam) sail on a series of mainly 7-day "Canada and New England Discovery" voyages. Volendam's longer (10- and 11-day) voyages visit Newfoundland, while a 24-day itinerary adds Greenland plus a circumnavigation of Iceland.

Evening departures from Aruba, Curacao, Puerto Rico, and St Maarten are scheduled for selected/longer itineraries visiting more islands. HAL's Caribbean program is based mainly on ex-Florida roundtrips (7- to 21 days) and 6 ships - all leaving from homeport Port Everglades/Fort Lauderdale Florida. From April to November (2025), 3 ships (Oosterdam, Nieuw Statendam, Rotterdam) have a full European season, while ms Zuiderdam sails the popular 35-day "Voyage of the Vikings". The itineraries range from 7 to 42 days, prioritizing destinations in Northern Europe/Baltic, British Isles, Canary Islands, and the Mediterranean. Volendam offers 10- and 11-day itineraries between Boston and Montreal during the summer and fall.

Asia Collectors' Voyages offer an ideal option for enthusiastic adventurers who desire a more extensive cruise experience, ranging from 27 to 42 days. These voyages are tailored for guests who want to explore various destinations without repeating itineraries, providing excellent value per day. HAL's 2024 Canada and New England program groups 29 voyages (ranging from 7-day getaways to longer itineraries) and is based on homeporting in Boston (Massachusetts USA). An extended roundtrip-Boston itinerary visits destinations in Iceland and Greenland.

All itineraries are roundtrips from Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades, Florida). (May-October 2022) 6- through 8-day "Canada and New England Discovery" between Boston and Quebec. MS Nieuw Statendam sails on longer "Newfoundland and New England Discovery" voyages between Boston and Quebec. Take in Alaska’s evergreen fjords and thunderous glaciers on this Vista-class Alaska cruise ship. Because the brand's vessels lack flashy top-deck attractions like waterslides and roller coasters, the experience is best enjoyed by people who don't need constant entertainment. The ideal match for one of these sailings is someone who likes destination immersion and relaxation time, as well as superb dining and eclectic music. Our Northern Europe cruises mix seldom-explored locales with famed ports and overnights in alluring cities, such as Copenhagen, Reykjavík, and more.

Suri Cruise will be free to talk about estrangement from Tom: report

age of suri cruise

"This business is so unstable, and you never really know where you're going to be … My child is the most important person to me, and her upbringing is paramount to my work right now," she said in Town & Country's April 2017 issue. "She's just so kind and has such a pure heart; she really leads with those two qualities, so I try to do the same," Holmes previously told PEOPLE of her mom. Holmes gushed about her ultra-supportive mother, Kathleen, "who is always willing to fly to me if I need her, and even when I don't," she previously told PEOPLE.

Entertainment News

"I always ask her. ... It was very meaningful to me to have her there, because she's my heart." Cruise and Kidman’s adult son is active on social media and has documented his fishing trips, his new buzzcut hairstyle and more. Holmes filed for divorce from the Oscar nominee in June 2012, and their divorce was settled the following month.

The ship then visits Oranjestad, Aruba; Willemstad, Curacao; and Kralendijk, Bonaire, before turning its bow to the north, toward Florida. After a day of sailing the Caribbean, Sirena drops anchor at Port Antonio, Jamaica, the gateway to Blue and John Crow Mountains National Park. Guests get a chance to hike, swim, and explore the town square for a day before embarking on another long sail — this time on the Atlantic.

That same year, Holmes enrolled Suri in Avenues, a pricey Manhattan private school. It's risky business being a celebrity baby, especially when your parents are Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. The mother-daughter duo have some fitness routines of their own, Holmes told Shape in December 2019. "It just depends on the day. We have our routines, and occasionally they overlap." She noted that she never pushes Suri to work out with her though, so as not to embarrass her.

"To live for a moment in time without the pressure of results," Holmes recalled in a Nov. 2020 essay for Vogue Australia, "and instead appreciate the natural rhythms of mother and daughter was the most precious gift." "I always ask her. But both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects and you become a family with people." "What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her," the 44-year-old recently told Glamour. "I'm very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She's an incredible person."

The "Dawson's Creek" alum looked back on how her and Tom Cruise's 16-year-old daughter grew up in front of the public eye before opting to spend her tween years away from the spotlight. The proud mom shared an adorable black-and-white throwback photo of herself kissing her little girl on the cheek to celebrate Mother's Day in 2021. In November 2020, Holmes wrote a piece for Vogue Australia's November issue about how the silver lining of the COVID-19 pandemic was spending more quality time with her daughter. The actress shared that she was "happy" to welcome Suri at age 27, telling Elle UK in November 2019 that their ages are "a good match."

Jada didn't deny that the school's curriculum was heavily influenced by Church of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard's Study Technology teaching technique, but in a 2009 email to ABC News, she insisted, "Study Technology is a secular methodology." You might also recall that Tom used to talk about his daughter often during her early years, like when he told Esquire that he entertained her with scripts rather than storybooks. "I'll start with the beginning of the movie and take her through the story beat by beat. Of course, I make it age-appropriate. She's four years old. But she asks all the right questions," he said. There are so many other compelling Suri stories to tell, so do you want her untold truth? “They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it’s my job to love them,” she continued.

"Hobbies such as sewing, painting and writing became new hallmarks of satisfaction and having had time at home to just be. To listen," she wrote. "To live for a moment in time without the pressure of results and instead appreciate the natural rhythms of mother and daughter was the most precious gift." Holmes welcomed her first and only child, daughter Suri Cruise, 18, on April 18, 2006, in Los Angeles with then-husband Tom Cruise. The Dawson's Creek actress and Mission Impossible star first met the year prior and got engaged after a whirlwind two-month courtship, tying the knot with their newborn by their side in Italy in November 2006. The high-profile relationship of her parents Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes made Suri’s birth in April 2006 one of the most publicised celebrity events of the entire noughties.

It’s unclear where the teenager was off to, but she held on to a pink water bottle as wired headphones hung out of her pocket. Suri is following her mum’s footsteps in the entertainment industry and has wowed audiences with her impressive singing voice. Just last year, she was heard in Holmes’ film Alone Together, singing “Blue Moon” in the opening credits.

In April 2020, A source told Us Weekly about how “in sync” Suri and Holmes are as a mother-and-daughter duo. “You’d struggle to find a mom-daughter duo who are more in sync with each other,” the insider said. When news came that Cruise and Holmes had become parents to a baby daughter in April 2006, a global frenzy erupted, with media outlets competing to be the first to publish the little girl’s photos. Between ports, travelers can enjoy the spa, fitness center, live performances, kids' activities, and a variety of restaurants aboard the Mariner of the Seas. Following the cruising day is a stop at Royal Caribbean's private CocoCay in the Bahamas. Fill your "Perfect Day" chasing adventure at Thrill Waterpark, where you can ride down North America's tallest waterslide, or relaxing in an overwater cabana at Coco Beach Club.

"She won't let me leave unless I'm wearing what she wants me to wear," Holmes said on "Live with Regis and Kelly" in 2010 (via OK!). This cruise leaves Orlando and, after a day at sea, stops in Labadee, Haiti, where activities range from riding a toboggan-style roller coaster to zip lining over the ocean. From there, the ship travels to Falmouth, Jamaica, located between Montego Bay and Ocho Rios, for options like horseback riding, river tubing, hiking to a waterfall, and high tea at the historical Good Hope Estate. Despite living a life away from the spotlight, the paparazzi have continued to follow her every move as she hangs out with friends and enjoys mother-daughter time with Holmes. There have been questions about whether Holmes and her daughter were declared Scientology “suppressive persons,” or SPs, after the divorce. It’s possible that Suri may choose to stay silent about her famous father.

"Suri does know I'm Princess Fiona. I'm not going to speak for her, but yes, I think she does [love Shrek]," Diaz told People (via the Belfast Telegraph) in 2010. But by 2016, Suri was embracing democracy over monarchy; on "Today Show Radio," Holmes said that it pained her little princess that Hillary Clinton had lost the presidential election. Cruise, however, still has “no part” of his youngest child’s life, a source exclusively told Page Six in March 2022. Suri has reportedly not seen Top Gun star Tom in more than a decade after her mom divorced him when she was five. It was hard to miss that her daughter had a striking similarity to her actress mom in the early days of her career.

As an adult, Suri Cruise should be free to speak out about her father, his beliefs and their rift, journalist and Scientology expert Tony Ortega told Page Six. Tom Cruise’s three ex-wives, Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes, probably would have a lot to say about being married to the famously intense mega-star and their time inside his beloved Church of Scientology. Holmes claimed that Serendipity 3 is a kid-oriented establishment, but Joe Calderone, a rep for the restaurant, told Radar that this is untrue. He also expressed concern that the gummies incident would make Holmes reticent to bring Suri there again. In 2011, Suri Cruise was photographed holding a box of candies that you might see used as a garnish for a naughty cocktail at a bachelorette party.

age of suri cruise

While a source said Suri was “applying for schools all over the place”, they also divulged that Holmes would prefer she stay close to home in New York City. According to the Daily Mail, Suri is reportedly applying for college to study fashion. However, after Cruise and Holmes separated in 2012, Suri and Holmes took a large step back from the spotlight.

But no such agreement probably applies to Cruise’s youngest child, Suri Cruise, from whom he’s long been estranged, Page Six reported. With Suri turning 18 on Thursday, she and her mother Katie Holmes should no longer receive the reported $400,000 a year Cruise paid as part of a divorce settlement. Cruise also agreed to pay Suri’s college and health care costs, Page Six added. In July 2012, a seriously sad moment for Suri Cruise was immortalized by the intrusive lens of the pack of paparazzi that trail her everywhere.

This cruise aboard the Carnival Sunrise departs from Miami for a day at sea before arriving in Grand Cayman. After leaving the Cayman Islands, the ship moves on to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, where excursions include swimming with dolphins, river tubing, zip lining, and horseback riding along the shore. After departing Montego Bay, the ship sails the Caribbean and Panama Canal for two days before making its next stop at Colón, Panama, for an optional visit to Indigenous villages or a walk around the colorful city.
